The distribution playbook

Send a film instead of a deck

When a focused product film belongs in a sales thread, what it should prove, and when a deck or document is still the better tool.

A deck is good at comparison and reference. A film is good at sequence: what enters the system, what the user does, and what comes out. Send the film when that sequence is the unanswered question in the thread.

Send the right film in a sales thread

  1. Read the questionQuote the actual uncertainty internally: workflow, fit, proof or next step. That is the film's brief.
  2. Choose one pathShow the smallest complete journey that answers the question. More features make the proof less specific.
  3. Add the boundarySay what the film does not show and link to the detail that matters. Trust grows when the edges are visible.
  4. Write the hand-offIntroduce the film in one sentence and tell the recipient what to look for. Never drop a bare video link into a serious thread.
  5. Keep a reusable coreIf the same question recurs, turn the focused cut into a durable library asset and personalise only the message around it.

Where the film fails

A glossy film cannot rescue an unclear offer or replace a technical answer. If the buyer needs a contract term, a data-flow diagram or a precise implementation commitment, send that material plainly and use video only where it adds evidence.

Questions people ask

Should I send a video instead of a sales deck?

Send a video when motion or product behaviour is the proof the buyer needs. Keep the deck or document when the buyer needs to scan, compare, annotate or circulate detailed information.

How long should a sales-thread video be?

Make it only long enough to answer the thread's question. A focused workflow is usually more useful than a general company film, and the email can link to the longer explanation.

What should a product sales video show?

Show the buyer's relevant workflow, the input, the product action and the result. State the boundary too: do not imply access, integrations or outcomes you have not demonstrated.
